Problem Severity

UST 52-A-15 was installed in 1985 and decommissioned in FY00. Confirmation soil samples were collected from the limits of excavation and analyzed for DRO and GRO. DRO and GRO concentrations were above ADEC cleanup criteria. Results showed 290 mg/kg GRO, 9800 mg/kg DRO and 4.438 mg/kg total BTEX. A total of 153 cu. yds of soil were removed and stockpiled on site. The stockpiled soil was analyzed for DRO and BTEX, then combined with fuel-affected soil generated from the decommissioning of other FSTs at Northway, and stockpiled on site. In FY01, the stockpile was thermally remediated at OIT, Inc., Fairbanks (Moose Creek), Alaska.
