Approximately 29,000 gallons of #1 heating oil spilled near Yukon River beach area on 12/12/89. Extent of contamination and health impact unknown. Containment dike constructed, contaminated snow removed, and approximately 5,600 gallons of oil recovered as of 4/90. The location was reported to be approximately 150 feet from the school gym toward the Yukon River. City of Nulato broke fuel line, however fuel storage tanks belong to Yukon-Koyukuk school district. (rpltr6) Former File Number 840.02.002. Update 4-2011: there is currently one community water well in Nulato, 1.25 miles west of the lower townsite. There are no private water wells in Nulato. There are plans to re-activate the Blackberry well and tie it into the upper townsite's water system in the fall of 2011, but this is not impacted by any spills in the lower townsite.
